Cardi B has officially filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Offset, marking the latest chapter in their tumultuous relationship. The rapper’s representative confirmed the news to Page Six on Wednesday but did not provide additional details.
Cardi, 31, is seeking primary custody of their two children, Kulture, 5, and Wave, 2. According to an insider, the latest rumors of Offset’s infidelity were not the primary reason for the split. Instead, the couple has grown apart over time.
“They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else,” the insider claimed. “This is something she wants to do.”
Throughout their marriage, Offset, 32, has faced numerous allegations of infidelity. Recently, he denied the latest cheating rumors after being seen publicly with a woman he reportedly dated in the past. However, the source emphasized that these rumors were not the deciding factor in Cardi’s decision.
Cardi’s primary focus now is obtaining primary custody of their children. There has also been speculation that she might be expecting a third child, but Cardi has not publicly confirmed or acknowledged these rumors.
The divorce reportedly did not come as a surprise to Offset, as both have been contemplating their future together for some time. “It’s not something that happened overnight… They’ve both been on the same page. There wasn’t [pushback]. They’ve grown apart and that feeling has gotten stronger over time. It’s become unavoidable,” the insider added.
The couple, who married in September 2017, have had several breakups and reconciliations throughout their relationship. In 2020, Cardi initially filed for divorce but later reconciled with Offset. Their ups and downs have been well-documented, with Cardi sharing cryptic messages about outgrowing relationships and prioritizing herself.
In 2023, Cardi hinted at being single again and expressed frustration with protecting others’ feelings over her own. Despite attempting to work on their marriage, including a date night at a New York Knicks game in April, the couple has now decided to part ways.
“She has no ill-will towards him. She’s wishing him the best. She’s not going into this next season [of her life] with any beef or any drama. She wants everything to be very peaceful,” the source concluded.
As Cardi moves on from this chapter of her life, her focus remains on her children and maintaining a peaceful transition. Offset’s representative has not yet commented on the situation.
