The stars shone bright at the 2024 Met Gala, and Doja Cat made a splash with her striking attire. The annual event took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday night (May 6). This year’s theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, focused on “clothing and fashion so fragile that it can’t ever be worn again.”
Prior to the gala, the California rap-crooner had been seen wearing nothing but a towel. However, she arrived at the Met Gala in a soaked white T-shirt, opting to go without undergarments. Photos of her entrance can be found below.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, Doja explained the inspiration behind her unique ensemble.
“I know many people were going to wear floral designs, but I chose the most commonly used flower, cotton,” Doja said in the video below. “I also chose a white T-shirt because it’s timeless and felt poetic. I knew it wouldn’t blend in too much, and I don’t like blending in, so we went with this.”
“I’m actually wet right now; this is water,” she added. “I’m not supposed to reveal the secret, but it’s hair gel. It’s all hair gel, and it’s smoothed throughout the entire outfit.”
Doja made headlines last year with her appearance at the 2023 Met Gala, where she resembled a real-life cat thanks to the use of prosthetic special effects.
