Dominic Raab, UK’s Deputy Prime Minister, Steps Down from Position
Dominic Raab, who served as both the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister, announced his resignation on Friday. The decision came after an independent investigation was conducted into formal complaints made about his behavior.
Dominic Raab is a British politician who previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister of the United Kingdom. He was born on February 25, 1974, in Buckinghamshire, England, and was educated at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School and Oxford University, where he studied law.
Raab began his career as a lawyer before entering politics. He was elected to the UK Parliament in 2010 as a member of the Conservative Party and served as the Minister of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, and later as the Minister of State for Justice. In July 2018, he was appointed as the UK’s Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, a position he held until November 2018.
After his resignation from the Brexit Secretary role, Raab was appointed as the UK’s Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State. In July 2019, he launched a bid to become leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister, but was eliminated in the second round of voting.
Raab has been known for his controversial stances on various issues, including his views on human rights and his opposition to the European Convention on Human Rights. His resignation in 2023 followed an independent investigation into formal complaints made about his behavior.
