Isra Hirsi, daughter of Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, disclosed on Thursday that she has been suspended from Barnard College due to her participation in anti-Israel demonstrations at Columbia University.

“I’m an organizer with CU Apartheid Divest @ColumbiaSJP, in my 3 years at @BarnardCollege I have never been reprimanded or received any disciplinary warnings,” Hirsi stated on X.

“I just received notice that I am 1 of 3 students suspended for standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide.”

The notification of the suspension was delivered to Hirsi and two other students by Barnard College’s Dean, Leslie Grinage, early Thursday morning, according to a statement from the Apartheid Divest group.

This disciplinary action followed the arrest of at least three individuals linked to the continuous tent protest at Columbia University’s Morningside campus.
