Kat Dennings joins Tim Allen in ‘Shifting Gears,’ an ABC comedy pilot about family and classic car restoration, marking Dennings’ return to multi-cam comedy.
Kat Dennings is set to join Tim Allen in the ABC comedy pilot “Shifting Gears,” as confirmed by Variety.
The show, a multi-camera pilot, revolves around Matt (played by Allen), a widowed classic car restoration shop owner whose life takes a turn when his estranged daughter, Riley (played by Dennings), and her teenage children come to live with him, sparking a journey of familial restoration.
Riley is depicted as Matt’s daughter who has always clashed with her father. She previously left home to marry a man her father disapproved of.
Following her divorce, Riley returns to her father’s home with her children, hoping for a second chance at reconciling their differences.
This role signifies Dennings’ return to the multi-camera comedy format, having starred in the CBS hit “Two Broke Girls” for six seasons.
Dennings, who also had a lead role in Hulu’s “Dollface” for two seasons, is widely recognized for her portrayal of Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including appearances in three “Thor” movies, “WandaVision,” and the animated series “What If…?”
