Katy Perry flaunts her curves in a leather jumpsuit to promote her new single ‘Woman’s World.’ The release, slated for July 11, stirs controversy due to her collaboration with Dr. Luke.
Bollywood Fever: Katy Perry showcased her stunning curves while promoting her new single “Woman’s World” on Thursday. The 39-year-old “Roar” singer took to Instagram, posting photos of herself in a figure-hugging black leather halter-top jumpsuit. The outfit featured a zipper at the bodice and green and white racing stripes running down the sides, with the zipper pulled low to reveal her prominent cleavage.
In one photo, Katy, who recently won a legal battle over her Montecito home, held her amber-colored sunglasses, and in another, she wore them. “START UR ENGINES, WOMAN’S WORLD IS COMING. PRESS THAT PRE-SAVE FOR JULY 11,” she captioned the post.
Katy also shared a short clip of herself backstage with rapper Saweetie, surprising her in her dressing room. Saweetie commented on Katy’s post: “THE BEST !!!!!!! WE ARE SEATED !!!!!!!! I got the keyz !!! Engines are ret to GOOOO !!”
However, the announcement drew immediate backlash due to Katy’s collaboration with music producer Dr. Luke. Some comments criticized her for working with Dr. Luke, who has faced past sexual assault allegations from singer Kesha. Comments included: “If Dr. Luke is driving the car it’s just going to backfire,” and “stop working with dr puke.”
Katy’s collaboration with Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, along with Max Martin, Sarah Hudson, and Stargate, has sparked controversy. Perry has worked with Dr. Luke on previous hits like “I Kissed a Girl,” “California Gurls,” and “Roar.”
The controversy intensified following Kesha’s tweet “lol” after the news of Perry and Dr. Luke’s collaboration broke. Followers speculated it was directed at Katy, with some suggesting it was a form of shade.
Critics expressed disappointment in Perry’s decision to work with Dr. Luke. One user commented, “It’ll never be a ‘Woman’s World’ because people like Katy Perry continue to support and uplift abusers in the industry like Dr. Luke.” Another added, “I’m actually in shock how so many Katy Perry fans are defending her with this Dr. Luke thing… it’s ok to hold your favorite artist accountable btw.”
The fallout from the allegations and the prolonged legal battle with Kesha led artist Doja Cat to declare in December 2021 that she would no longer collaborate with Dr. Luke. “I don’t think I need to work with him again,” Doja Cat told Rolling Stone. “I don’t think I need to work with him in the future. I know that.”
Despite the controversy, Katy Perry remains focused on her new single, set to release on July 11.
