As the NFL season approaches, the New York Jets face uncertainty with Haason Reddick’s holdout over a new contract. Despite the impasse, head coach Robert Saleh remains hopeful that Reddick will rejoin the team before the Week 1 matchup against the 49ers.
Bollywood Fever: With the regular season less than two weeks away, the New York Jets find themselves in a tense standoff as they await updates on linebacker Haason Reddick’s holdout.
Acquired in an offseason trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, Reddick has yet to report to the team, having requested a trade from New York in early August as part of his efforts to negotiate a new contract.
The Jets have made their stance clear: no new contract discussions will occur until Reddick reports to the team.
On the other hand, Reddick has insisted that he won’t report until his contract is renegotiated.
Despite the apparent deadlock, head coach Robert Saleh remains confident that Reddick will return to the team before the regular season kicks off.
“I’m assuming he’s in phenomenal shape,” Saleh stated. “Like I said, he’s a veteran. He knows what he needs to get ready.
He’s had success in multiple buildings and multiple schemes with coaching staffs, and so he’s going to know what he needs to do to be ready for Week 1. So, he still has plenty of time.”
Reddick, a key acquisition for the Jets in April, came at the cost of a conditional third-round pick.
A multiple-time Pro Bowler and a second-team All-Pro, Reddick brings a wealth of experience, having played with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers before his stint with Philadelphia.
Jets fans won’t have to wait much longer to see if Reddick will suit up, as New York prepares to face the San Francisco 49ers in their Week 1 matchup on September 8.
