Nintendo Switch Successor Set to Launch in First Quarter of 2025

Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe released a video on Friday, citing five sources, stating that Nintendo informed publishers about its forthcoming successor to the Switch console, scheduled to debut in the first quarter of 2025.

Subsequently, Video Games Chronicle (VGC), Eurogamer, and Bloomberg also reported similar information, citing their own sources. Bloomberg mentioned that a Nintendo spokesperson declined to provide any comment on the matter.

Nintendo Switch Sales Exceed 111 Million

Earlier in January, BNN Bloomberg reported analyst Hiroshi Hayase’s prediction from the technology research and advisory group Omdia, suggesting that Nintendo would unveil a new gaming console this year featuring an 8-inch LCD screen.

Hayase anticipated that this device would lead to a significant increase in shipments of “amusement displays” for the year.

Furthermore, Bloomberg noted Sharp’s announcement in May 2023 that it was collaborating with a console manufacturer, supplying LCD panels for an upcoming gaming platform.

Recently, the Game Developers Conference (GDC) released findings from its 12th annual “State of the Game Industry Survey,” which surveyed over 3,000 game developers.

The survey indicated that 8% of developers are currently working on projects for the Nintendo Switch successor, with 32% expressing the most interest in this upcoming platform.

The Nintendo Switch originally launched in March 2017 and has since accumulated sales of 139.36 million units as of December 31.

Surpassing Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Nintendo’s Game Boy/Game Boy Color, the Switch now ranks as the third best-selling console of all time by the end of 2022, trailing only behind the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.
