Phillies’ Cristopher Sanchez Joins All-Star Roster, Boosting Team’s Total to Eight
Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez has been added to the NL All-Star team, making his first All-Star appearance and bringing the Phillies’ total to eight All-Stars.
Bollywood Fever: The Philadelphia Phillies have increased their MLB-leading total of All-Star selections to eight, with left-hander Cristopher Sanchez being the latest addition to the roster. Sanchez will be making his first All-Star Game appearance as he replaces veteran left-hander Chris Sale, who is scheduled to start for the Atlanta Braves against the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
Sanchez, 27, has been impressive this season, boasting a 7-4 record with a 2.96 ERA in 18 starts. His selection adds to the Phillies’ strong representation at the Midsummer Classic, which will take place on Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas.

He will join a notable group of Phillies on the National League team, including pitchers Zack Wheeler, Ranger Suárez, Jeff Hoffman, and Matt Strahm, as well as position players Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Alec Bohm.
The announcement follows the recent addition of Seattle Mariners reliever Andres Muñoz to the American League All-Star roster. Muñoz, who has recorded 15 saves this season, replaces his teammate Logan Gilbert, who is set to start against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
Chris Sale, who was initially selected for the All-Star Game, has been stellar for the Braves this season with a 12-3 record and a 2.74 ERA in 17 starts. His scheduled start on Sunday against the Padres necessitated his replacement on the All-Star roster.
The All-Star Game promises to showcase some of the best talent in Major League Baseball, with players like Sanchez earning recognition for their outstanding performances this season. As the Phillies look forward to having a strong presence at the event, fans can expect an exciting display of skill and competition in Arlington.
