Pope Francis to Proceed with Easter Vigil Service Amid Health Concerns

Bollywoodfever, March, 30: Pope Francis is set to participate in the Easter Vigil service this Saturday at St. Peter’s Basilica, as confirmed by the Vatican, despite not attending the Good Friday procession at Rome’s Colosseum due to a last-minute decision aimed at protecting his health for the remainder of the Easter week activities.

The Vatican has announced that the Saturday evening service is the only public event scheduled for the pope that day. This decision follows the announcement on Friday that Pope Francis would not be part of the “Via Crucis” (Way of the Cross) procession, a measure taken to safeguard his well-being for upcoming Easter celebrations.

Pope Francis to Proceed with Easter Vigil Service Amid Health Concerns

At 87 years old, Pope Francis often uses a wheelchair or a cane for mobility and has recently had to curtail his public appearances, battling both bronchitis and the flu.

Easter Sunday, which is the pinnacle of the Church’s liturgical year, commemorates what Christians believe to be the resurrection of Jesus. On this day, Pope Francis is expected to lead Mass and give his biannual “Urbi et Orbi” (to the city and the world) message and blessings, which he will deliver from the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica.
