Rihanna is relishing her role as a mother to two boys! Speaking with E! News recently, she shared insights into life with RZA, 23 months, and Riot, 8 months, her sons with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, and how motherhood has influenced her career.
“They bring purpose to every aspect of my life,” Rihanna shared. “Everything has to be intentional, and everything has to be worth it — especially when it takes me away from them.”
Regarding her work choices, the singer and businesswoman quipped, “They’ve got to eat, for one, so I’ve got to work.”
Embracing her status as a boy mom, Rihanna expressed feeling “really cool” about it. “I get to be as casual and unrefined as I want, but it also compels me to embrace the remarkable aspects of being a woman and all my femininity — I embrace it so much more now,” the Fenty Beauty founder added.
While she’s content with her sons, Rihanna shared in December that she wouldn’t mind trying for a girl. “I’m batting at 75 percent for a boy next time,” she mentioned. “So, we’ll just keep our fingers crossed.”
In a recent Interview feature, Rihanna expressed her openness to having more children. “I want to have as many kids as God wants me to have,” she said. “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
Reflecting on her relationship with A$AP Rocky, Rihanna discussed why they waited to take their friendship to a romantic level. “We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives,” Rihanna explained. “We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating with a lot of caution.”
The couple began dating at the end of 2019, with Rihanna crediting the COVID-19 pandemic for accelerating their relationship and family plans. “We would’ve taken a lot more time to get comfortable with each other, to even know that we were ready,” she shared.
“It was the best thing that ever happened to us. It just happened,” Rihanna said of their family, adding that she allowed herself to “let go” and “let God lead.”
