Trump Convicted on All Charges in Hush Money Case

The first criminal trial of a former US president concluded with the 77-year-old Trump found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a payment intended to silence adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Trump, released without bail and expected to appeal, initially appeared subdued in the Manhattan courtroom. However, outside the court, he denounced the verdict as a “disgrace” and “rigged,” promising that the “real verdict” would come from voters in the November 5 election.

This conviction propels the United States into unprecedented political territory.

Despite the outcome, Trump remains eligible to continue his presidential campaign, even if Judge Juan Merchan hands down a prison sentence, which is scheduled for July 11—right before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where Trump is expected to secure the party’s nomination to challenge Democratic President Joe Biden.

Biden’s campaign responded by stating that the trial demonstrated “no one is above the law” and emphasized that “the threat Trump poses to our democracy has never been greater.”

The 12-member jury deliberated for over 11 hours across two days before delivering their unanimous verdict.

Judge Merchan expressed gratitude to the jurors for completing the “difficult and stressful task.” Their identities were kept confidential throughout the proceedings, a rare measure typically reserved for cases involving organized crime or violent defendants.

Social Media RIP America Trend

Following the historic conviction of Donald Trump in the hush money case, social media erupted with divided opinions. While many users supported the court’s decision, emphasizing the importance of accountability and the rule of law, a significant number of Trump’s supporters expressed their discontent by trending #RIPAmerica.

This hashtag reflected their belief that the verdict represented a grave injustice and a threat to the nation’s democratic principles. The polarized reactions highlight the deep divisions within the country as the presidential election approaches.
