Robert Irwin and Girlfriend Rorie Buckey Part Ways
Robert Irwin and his girlfriend Rorie Buckey have parted ways after reportedly dating for one year, as they announced in a joint statement on Instagram on Saturday morning.
We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all of the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future,” the post, shared on Buckey’s Instagram Stories, read.
“We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journey on different paths.”
The pair stated that they won’t be providing further comments and requested privacy during this time.
Irwin and Buckey went public with their relationship last July when they appeared together on the red carpet at the Sydney premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Later, they attended GQ’s Social Force of the Year award ceremony, where Irwin told news.com.au that Buckey made his life “that much sweeter”.
“I think life is awesome for me every single second of every day,” the 20-year-old said at the time. But when love is part of life, every single thing is so much sweeter, so much nicer, and you take that time to enjoy every single moment. We are extremely happy.”
In December, Buckey announced on Instagram that she had started working at Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, which Irwin runs with his mother Terri and sister Bindi.
In her post, 19-year-old Rorie – who is reportedly studying a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at Perth’s Curtin University – expressed her intention to further her studies by researching crocodiles at Australia Zoo.
