Tragic news emerged as Lee’s sister revealed that she had attempted suicide at her home over the weekend, prompting an immediate rush to the hospital. Regrettably, despite medical efforts, she slipped into a coma and tragically passed away on Wednesday.

Hailing from Hong Kong but later relocating to the United States for her middle and high school education, Lee established an immensely successful career as a pop singer in Asia during the 1990s and 2000s. Recognized for her commanding vocal abilities and captivating live performances, she soared to fame in the Mandopop genre before venturing into Cantonese and English music, encompassing a remarkable span of nearly three decades.

Notably, Lee lent her voice to the character Fa Mulan in the Mandarin version of Disney’s Mulan and delivered a mesmerizing rendition of the movie’s iconic theme song, “Reflection.”

In 2011, Lee tied the knot with Bruce Rockowitz, a Canadian businessman and former CEO of the Hong Kong supply chain company Li & Fung. While she embraced her role as a stepmother to Rockowitz’s two daughters, Lee herself did not have children.

“CoCo, through her unwavering dedication, paved the way for Chinese singers to shine on the international music stage and tirelessly endeavored to open new horizons,” expressed Lee’s sisters in their heartfelt tribute.
