Bollywood Fever: After the Indiana Fever’s 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm on Thursday night, an awkward exchange unfolded between two of the team’s biggest stars, Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.
During the post-game press conference, Caitlin Clark was fielding several questions while Aliyah Boston was noticeably ignored. This prompted the rookie sensation to interject, saying, “Ask Aliyah a question!” Boston responded emphatically, “No, I’m good!”
Clark insisted that the media address Boston, and someone from the press obliged. Both players were clearly frustrated with the loss, which keeps the Fever out of the WNBA’s playoff picture, despite combining for 26 points against the Storm.
This exchange marks a rare moment of tension between Clark and Boston, who are both crucial to the future success of the Indiana Fever. There have been no previous signs of dissension between the two stars, who have each had standout careers before joining the WNBA.
Clark’s rookie season has been under intense scrutiny due to her role in the rising popularity of women’s basketball, dating back to her impressive career at Iowa. Boston, who was a dominant player at South Carolina, was the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s WNBA Draft by the Fever.
While Clark’s addition has brought renewed attention to the Fever, the team has yet to see significant success. The upcoming schedule does not get any easier, with a first-time matchup between Clark and veteran Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, followed by a game against the Las Vegas Aces to conclude their road trip.
The Fever hope to turn their fortunes around and capitalize on the talents of Clark and Boston as they continue to develop their chemistry and lead the team forward.
