Rosalind Fitzgerald and Sarah Crawford admitted to outraging public decency after performing a sex act outside a shop during the school run in Gateshead. Fitzgerald received a community order and fine; Crawford’s sentencing is pending.
Two women shocked onlookers after being caught engaging in a sex act outside a shop in Gateshead during the morning school run.
Rosalind Fitzgerald, 42, and Sarah Crawford, 39, had been drinking all night at a party before the incident occurred around 8:40 a.m. on December 11. The act was witnessed by children on their way to school, leading to public outrage.
Both women were arrested and charged with outraging public decency. They pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing.
Fitzgerald appeared at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court and was handed a 12-month community order along with a £120 fine. The court acknowledged her previous, albeit limited, convictions. Her defense lawyer stated that she was deeply remorseful and has not repeated the behavior.
Crawford, from North Shields, North Tyneside, had her sentencing adjourned until July. The charge against her stated she was involved in the act with Fitzgerald in public view, causing outrage.
The incident has raised concerns about public decency and the impact of such behavior on the community, especially children.
