Clark Lea expresses pride in his team’s effort and dedication following a significant win, highlighting their hard work and belief after years of challenges.
BollywoodFever: Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea addressed the media after an emotional and hard-earned victory, emphasizing the team’s belief and resilience in securing the win. Despite acknowledging the challenges his team has faced, Lea expressed immense pride in their dedication and hard work over the years.

Opening Statement
“I feel right now we expected to win that game. That’s not shocking to me,” Lea said, reflecting on the team’s mindset. “I was going to be emotional no matter what because it’s a big win to capture that stadium, and as we’re kneeling the ball out… there are days where you feel like you’re really close, and there are days where you feel like you’re miles away. To have that moment… that was special and something I’ll never forget.”
Lea praised his team’s ability to handle a tough Alabama team, saying, “I’m proud of our team, the way we battled. When you look at the game itself, we needed to limit possessions. That’s an explosive offense. It’s a good Alabama team. I’ve got a ton of respect for Kalen. I thought his guys battled too.”
On His Team’s Dedication
When asked how happy he was for his players, especially after enduring tough seasons, Lea’s appreciation was evident: “I’m really happy for them. I don’t take it for granted that I’ve got a team of warriors. I said it tonight to the team, the guys that have been here four years with me—there’s nothing I could say to thank them for their level of belief and investment.”
Lea continued, “This is my job, it’s my passion, but I’m also kind of hardwired to do this and I love challenges… I think for young people to share that passion and love for the challenge, it’s inspirational and remarkable. So yes, I’m happy for them. I’m happy for all of them and I can’t thank them enough.”
The victory marks a pivotal moment for Lea’s team, demonstrating that their hard work and perseverance are starting to pay off. It’s clear that Lea’s belief in his team is unwavering, and his gratitude toward the players reflects his respect for their journey.
