A fire at McLaren’s paddock headquarters during the Spanish Grand Prix led to evacuation and hospitalization of an employee. Learn more about the incident and the team’s response.
Barcelona, Bollywood Fever: A McLaren employee was hospitalized after a fire forced the Formula One team to evacuate their paddock headquarters before final practice and qualifying at the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday.
The team reported that the Circuit de Catalunya emergency services and the local fire brigade responded within minutes of the alarm. The fire in the hospitality hub was quickly extinguished.

“One McLaren team member has been taken to hospital as a precaution, and all McLaren personnel and guests are accounted for,” McLaren stated, expressing gratitude to rival teams for their offers of assistance. The presence of fire engines in the paddock and the cordoned-off area around the team’s hospitality hub created a dramatic scene, but it did not appear to affect the team’s drivers.
Despite the incident, McLaren’s performance on the track remained strong. Lando Norris was the second fastest in the final practice session, and Australian driver Oscar Piastri secured the 10th spot.
