Aaron Judge and Yankees Struggle Both Offensively and Defensively in Loss to Nationals

The New York Yankees falter with errors and missed opportunities, suffering a 4-2 loss to the Washington Nationals despite Aaron Judge’s efforts.

Bollywood Fever: Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees struggled on both sides of the ball Tuesday night, falling short against the Washington Nationals. Despite managing eight hits, the Yankees went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position, and their defense was equally disappointing, committing four errors throughout the game.

It was a frustrating night for the Yankees, who ultimately suffered a 4-2 loss in the interleague showdown at Nationals Park.

“I think we had 3 or 4 errors on the night,” Judge told reporters in the locker room after the game (via YES Network). “Anytime something like that happens, it’s tough to win a ball game.”

Judge had a prime opportunity to be the hero once again when he stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. However, he grounded into a double play, with DJ LeMahieu scoring New York’s first run of the night. Judge finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

The Yankees now have 79 errors on the season, the seventh-most in the majors. These self-inflicted mistakes, coupled with an inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities, have proven costly.

The 78-55 Yankees will look to bounce back from this loss on Wednesday as they face the Nationals in the finale of their three-game series.
