Actor Steve Buscemi Assaulted in Manhattan, Second ‘Boardwalk Empire’ Star Attacked This Spring
Another “Boardwalk Empire” actor has reportedly been injured in a seemingly unprovoked assault in Manhattan. Steve Buscemi, 66, was in Kips Bay on Wednesday when an unknown individual approached him and struck him in the face, as per two NYPD sources. Buscemi was leaning against a wall, engrossed in his phone, at the time of the incident.
Emergency services rushed to 3rd Avenue and East 28th Street, where they attended to Buscemi before transporting him to Bellevue Hospital. Authorities stated that the actor sustained bruising, swelling, and bleeding to his left eye.

While the assailant remains unidentified, the NYPD has released surveillance images of the suspected individual in an effort to locate him.
In a statement to NBC News, Buscemi’s publicist confirmed the incident, stating, “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is okay and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of NY.”
Buscemi, recognized for his roles in “Fargo,” “Reservoir Dogs,” and the recent TV series “Miracle Workers,” was most recently featured in the final season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which concluded its 12-season run in April.
This incident marks the second attack on an actor from the acclaimed HBO show “Boardwalk Empire” this spring. Michael Stuhlbarg was assaulted on March 31 near Central Park, where he was struck in the head with a rock. The assailant, a homeless man identified as 27-year-old Xavier Israel, was arrested and faces assault and harassment charges. Israel was also involved in a previous assault on a kind-hearted individual who had given him a coat in Manhattan over two years ago.
Stuhlbarg is currently appearing in “Patriots” on Broadway.
