Alfie Gilchrist Secures Future at Chelsea with Contract Extension Until 2026
Alfie Gilchrist has extended his contract with Chelsea until 2026, with the option to add another year, marking a significant step in his burgeoning career.
The defender, a product of the Chelsea academy, has emerged as a key player this season, making 12 appearances for the senior team under the guidance of coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Gilchrist shared his enthusiasm about the extension, stating, “Signing this contract at Chelsea is a massive achievement for me and my family.
It was a no-brainer, and every time I’ve signed a contract here, it has felt nicer and nicer. But now I want to keep on pushing on and keep improving,” during an interview with the Chelsea media team.
Having joined Chelsea’s youth setup as an under-11 player, Gilchrist has climbed the ranks at the club’s Cobham training ground.
He first caught the eye during the 2020/21 season while playing for Chelsea’s Under-18 team, where he demonstrated leadership qualities by captaining the side on multiple occasions.
His performances did not go unnoticed, leading to his first professional contract offer in the same year after being honored as Scholar of the Year.
