Webby Awards 2023 Nominees: Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, Sydney Sweeney, and Ryan Gosling Shine

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, Sydney Sweeney, Ryan Gosling, and Timothee Chalamet are among the standout nominees for this year’s Webby Awards, which celebrate excellence in internet content and creativity. The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences unveiled the nominations after reviewing 13,000 entries from more than 70 countries.

Swift earned a nomination for leveraging her Instagram platform to encourage voter registration, directing her 283 million followers to Vote.org, which led to over 35,000 registrations. Kelce is nominated in the best sports podcast category for “New Heights,” a show he co-hosts with his brother Jason. Michelle Obama is recognized for “The Light Podcast,” while Barack Obama received a nomination for his collaboration with LinkedIn.

Sweeney’s partnership with Ford for a custom Mustang GT contest and Paris Hilton’s TikTok post promoting her family’s hotel brand are also among the nominations. Brett Goldstein, known for “Ted Lasso,” is nominated for his podcast “Films to Be Buried With,” competing against podcasts related to “The Crown,” “The Last of Us,” and others in the TV and film podcast category.

Chalamet’s advertisement for Apple TV+ and Gosling’s playful nod to BTS member Jimin in his Barbie campaign are contenders in the media and entertainment branded content category.

The music video nominations include Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo, and Victoria Monet.

Bravo, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Sesame Street,” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show” are up for best overall social presence. The “Barbie” movie’s influence is seen in nominations for a Mattel social media tie-in and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s campaign.

This year’s nominations also highlight the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in creative content, with new categories introduced for AI apps and experiences. Leading nominations by company include PBS, Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix, CNN, Paramount, The Washington Post, and MTV Entertainment.

The Webby Awards draw from a diverse group of academy members, including Questlove, Quinta Brunson, Tobe Nwigwe, Roxane Gay, Todd Kaplan, and AI scientist Yann LeCun.
