Amitabh Bachchan to Receive Prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award for Cultural Impact

In recognition of his extraordinary service to the nation and its culture, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan will be honored with the prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award. This accolade, presented by the Mangeshkar family, celebrates Bachchan’s significant contributions to Indian society and culture.

The Hindu reported on Tuesday, April 17, that Bachchan will be acknowledged alongside past recipients like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and singer Asha Bhosle. The award, initiated by the Deenanath Mangeshkar Smriti Pratishthan in memory of the revered singer and Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Mangeshkar, is given to individuals who have made exceptional contributions in various fields.

The ceremony will also recognize other distinguished figures such as music director AR Rahman, veteran Marathi actor Ashok Saraf, film star Padmini Kolhapure, singer Roopkumar Rathod, Marathi theatre veteran Atul Parchure, and noted author Manjiri Phadke with the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar award for their achievements in their respective domains. Actor-producer-director Randeep Hooda will receive a special accolade for his contributions to Indian cinema.

Scheduled for April 24 at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha in Vile Parle, the annual awards ceremony is set to be a significant event. Music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar, speaking at the announcement, highlighted the diverse talent being honored this year. Over the past 34 years, the awards have recognized 212 prominent individuals, demonstrating the Pratishthan’s dedication to honoring excellence in various areas.

Additionally, the Marathi play “Galib” will receive the Mohan Wagh Award for Best Drama, and the Deepstambh Foundation’s Manobal project, which provides residential training to disadvantaged individuals, will be commended for its exceptional social service.

The event, to be attended by notables such as singer Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath’s son Aadinath Mangeshkar, is anticipated to be a grand celebration of talent, commitment, and social responsibility.
