Andreas Pereira’s brace powered Fulham to a 2-0 win against West Ham, securing their third away victory this Premier League season and elevating them to 12th place. Despite Lukasz Fabianski’s impressive saves, Fulham clinched the win, completing their league double over West Ham.
Andreas Pereira scored twice to lead Fulham to a 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday, marking their third away win of the Premier League season. This victory lifted Fulham to 12th place in the standings, tying them with Bournemouth at 42 points, although Bournemouth has played one fewer game. Meanwhile, West Ham stayed in eighth place with 48 points, maintaining a four-point lead over Chelsea, who have three games in hand and are set to play Everton on Monday.
The match’s first critical moment came in the ninth minute when Konstantinos Mavropanos mishandled Alex Iwobi’s long pass, allowing Pereira to collect the ball inside the box. The former Manchester United midfielder then smoothly maneuvered around goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to open the scoring. Fulham manager Marco Silva highlighted the significance of this early lead, telling the BBC, “It’s important when you score early in the game. Something that has been key for us this season, when we have scored first we haven’t lost yet in the Premier League.”
Fabianski was pivotal for West Ham, making several key saves to keep his team in the contest. He blocked a low shot from Willian at a tight angle in the 38th minute and quickly followed up with a reaction save from Rodrigo Muniz’s header. Early in the second half, Fabianski again showcased his reflexes, this time stretching to tip away a shot from Iwobi, who had been sent through by Willian.
Despite Fabianski’s heroics, his efforts ultimately proved futile. In the 72nd minute, Iwobi delivered a cross from the edge of the box that slipped through Nayef Aguerd’s legs to find Pereira, who confidently netted his second goal of the match. This sealed a comprehensive win for Fulham and completed their league sweep over West Ham.
