About Anzac Day 2023
Anzac Day 2023 is just around the corner, and preparations for the commemoration of this significant day in Australian and New Zealand history are well underway. This year, Anzac Day falls on April 25th, and it marks the 108th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings in 1915.
Anzac Day is a day of remembrance, where we honour the sacrifice of the men and women who have served and continue to serve our countries in times of conflict and peacekeeping. It is a day to pay tribute to the bravery, courage, and selflessness of those who have fought for our freedoms and values.

The 2023 Anzac Day service in Warrnambool, Victoria, will be held at the Warrnambool Cenotaph, located in the Botanic Gardens. The service will commence at 10:45 am, with attendees requested to arrive early to secure their seats. The service will begin with a march of veterans and serving members of the Australian Defence Force, followed by the laying of wreaths and a minute’s silence.
The Warrnambool RSL Sub-Branch is organising the Anzac Day service, and they encourage all members of the community to attend and pay their respects. As Anzac Day falls on a Tuesday in 2023, it is likely that many people will take the opportunity to have a long weekend and travel to Warrnambool to participate in the service.
In addition to the Anzac Day service, the Warrnambool RSL Sub-Branch has organised a range of activities and events in the lead up to and after Anzac Day. These include a commemorative dinner, a trivia night, and a guided tour of the Warrnambool Cemetery to visit the graves of fallen soldiers.
The theme for Anzac Day 2023 is “Lest We Forget – Our Legacy”. This theme reflects on the importance of remembering and passing down the legacy of those who have served our countries. As time passes, it is essential that we continue to honour the sacrifices of those who have fought for our freedoms, and ensure that their legacy is not forgotten.
Anzac Day is a significant day in our nation’s history, and it is essential that we take the time to reflect on the sacrifices of those who have served our country. The 2023 Anzac Day service in Warrnambool is an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and pay their respects. It is a day to honour the memory of the brave men and women who have served our country and to recognise the ongoing service of our current serving members.
As we approach Anzac Day 2023, let us take the time to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have served our country, and remember their legacy for generations to come. Lest we forget.
