During a Serie A match against Udinese on Sunday, AS Roma defender Evan Ndicka experienced a distressing moment when he collapsed on the pitch in the second half. The incident occurred with the game tied at 1-1, 18 minutes from the end.
Ndicka, a centre-back from the Ivory Coast, fell backwards onto the field, visibly in distress. Although he remained conscious, he was seen clutching his chest in pain as the medical team quickly attended to him.
After being attended to, Ndicka was stretchered off the field, managing to give a thumbs-up gesture as he was carried away. Due to the seriousness of the situation and the time taken to address Ndicka’s medical needs, the match was subsequently suspended, and the players departed from the field.
