Tiger Woods, a five-time Masters champion, showed signs of struggle during the final round of the Masters at Augusta National, leaving fans contemplating his future in competitive golf. Despite his historical prowess on this course, an injury-plagued Woods couldn’t conjure his usual magic.

During the tournament, Woods was visibly hampered by injuries, starting strong with an early birdie but ultimately faltering to finish 16 over par for the week. He posted a five-over-par 77 in the final round, following an 82 the day before, which was his worst major round as a professional.

Nevertheless, the 48-year-old golfer continues to attract the largest crowds, boosting tournament ratings simply by participating. Before the final round, Woods was seen preparing with his son, Charlie, as enthusiastic fans filled the tee area, eager to witness his play.

As Woods progressed through the course, he reached the iconic par-three 12th hole at Amen Corner, where he acknowledged the supportive crowd with a tip of his cap, receiving a warm response. At the 18th hole, he capped his round with a gesture of appreciation to the spectators, who applauded him, pondering if this appearance might be his last at Augusta.

Woods had only played 24 holes of competitive golf in 2024 prior to the Masters, due to ongoing injuries. Despite these challenges, he remained hopeful about his chances, believing he could contend for another title. He had a promising start to the tournament, making his 24th consecutive Masters cut. However, the physical demands of playing 23 holes in challenging winds on Friday, after a suspension on Thursday, took their toll.

While Woods’ remarkable victory at the 2019 Masters, two years post-spinal fusion surgery, showcased his resilience, his recent physical struggles and limited competitive appearances cast doubt on the likelihood of another major win. Looking ahead, Woods is focused on recuperating for the upcoming PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, scheduled for May 16-19.
