Bobby Bones takes the high road after Julianne Hough comments on his Dancing With the Stars win, acknowledging his lack of dance skills but embracing his fan-voted victory.
Bollywood Fever: Bobby Bones isn’t letting Julianne Hough’s recent comments about his dancing on Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) ruffle his feathers. Despite Hough, 36, admitting that Bobby, 44, “was not the best dancer” on the show, the radio host responded with grace and humor, refusing to speak ill of the DWTS co-host.
“Julianne Hough can get no slander from me,” Bobby said in a video posted to Instagram on Monday, August 19. “I was the worst dancer. I take pride in that. Now, I tried as hard as anybody in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now. I couldn’t dance then.”
Bobby, who competed in season 27 of the dance competition alongside professional partner Sharna Burgess, acknowledged his lack of dance prowess but celebrated his victory with the help of his dedicated fan base. “But you know who took down the big evil empire of dance? Well, it’s not evil or an empire, but me and you! We did it together,” he said, adding with a smile, “I’m the greatest champion ever. I didn’t say I was the greatest dancer, but the greatest champion ever. I’m the man of the people. I’m the man that you guys selected.”
Bobby concluded his video with a lighthearted note, acknowledging his dancing shortcomings while highlighting the impact of the fan vote: “I’m a terrible dancer. I was a terrible dancer, but they changed the rules after I left because the fan vote was so good.”
The video, which Bobby captioned as “dramatic,” quickly gained traction on social media, even garnering a supportive response from Julianne Hough herself, who commented with a laughing emoji and an applause emoji, signaling there’s no bad blood between them.
Bobby’s response came just after Julianne appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she agreed with country singer Mickey Guyton that Bobby’s DWTS win was surprising given his lower scores. “I actually agree with you and I think it’s because of the fan base. It’s all about fan base on that show. He was not the best dancer,” Julianne remarked.
Despite receiving the lowest scores during season 27, Bobby ultimately won the competition, thanks to the overwhelming support from his fans. His latest comments make it clear that he’s proud of his journey on the show, and he’s not holding any grudges.
