Caitlin Clark Clinches Second Consecutive John R. Wooden Award, Sets Scoring Record
Caitlin Clark of Iowa secured the John R. Wooden Award once again, marking her as the top women’s college basketball player in the nation for the second consecutive year.
Joining her as finalists for this prestigious accolade were Stanford’s Cameron Brink, UConn’s Paige Bueckers, along with newcomers Hannah Hidalgo from Notre Dame and JuJu Watkins from Southern California. These distinguished athletes are set to be honored at the award ceremony in Los Angeles this Friday.
Clark was instrumental in leading the Hawkeyes to back-to-back NCAA title game appearances, although they were bested by the unbeaten South Carolina in the latest matchup. She distinguished herself nationally, not only by topping the charts with an impressive average of 31.6 points per game but also by leading in assists at 8.9 per game, setting a record as the first to achieve the number one spot in both metrics for two straight years.
In her concluding season with Iowa, Clark etched her name in history by becoming the all-time leading scorer in Division I college basketball, for both men and women.
