Goods Train Collides with Kanchenjunga Express in West Bengal, Injuring Several Passengers
A tragic train accident in West Bengal’s New Jalpaiguri involving the Kanchenjunga Express and a goods train has left several passengers injured. CM Mamata Banerjee confirms rescue operations are underway.
West Bengal, India, Bollywood Fever: In a social media post, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed that officials have been dispatched for rescue operations following a tragic train accident. Several passengers were injured when a goods train collided with the Kanchenjunga Express from behind in New Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, on Monday morning.
The Kanchenjunga Express, which operates between Sealdah in West Bengal and Silchar in Assam, was Sealdah-bound when the accident occurred.
“Shocked to learn, just now, about a tragic train accident in Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. While details are awaited, Kanchenjunga Express has reportedly been hit by a goods train. DM, SP, doctors, ambulances and disaster teams have been rushed to the site for rescue,” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted on X (formerly Twitter).
