At 24, Bailey is navigating new motherhood alongside her boyfriend DDG, with whom she welcomed Halo in December. Despite her joy over her “perfect” baby boy, Bailey revealed the challenges she faces. “I just wanted to speak a little bit about my postpartum journey as a new mom,” she began. “I have severe, severe postpartum [depression], and I don’t know if any new moms can relate, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad, and it’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out,” she shared.

Praising DDG for his support, she described him as an ideal father. “You all know that Halo has the most amazing daddy in the world,” she added. “Moo Moo is just the perfect dad to him. He loves him so much; he’s so present. And I couldn’t have asked for a better person to have a baby with because of how present he is and how much he wants to be in his life, and how supportive he is of me and my ventures,” Bailey stated.

The actress and singer linked her depression to her altered self-perception post-birth. “Halo is a miracle. He is perfect. He is beautiful. When I look at him, I cry because of how special he is. The only thing that’s been hard for me is feeling normal in my own body,” she explained.

Bailey emphasized that her depression is solely about her personal feelings and not related to her feelings for Halo. She highlighted the insensitivity of social media, which exacerbated her condition. “It has nothing to do with my baby. It has everything to do with me and who I am right now,” she asserted.

Further, Bailey spoke about the damaging impact of negative social media commentary on her mental health. “It’s just, it’s honestly, it’s really, really crazy to me that people would feel the need to say such hurtful things,” she told her followers, underlining the difference between public perception and private reality.

Previously, at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards, Bailey spoke about her decision to keep her pregnancy private to protect her peace and her family from the intense public scrutiny, reflecting a deliberate move to shield her son from the harsh spotlight.

Halle and DDG’s joy over their new family addition was evident during their first public appearance since Halo’s birth, where they shared their happiness with the world. Bailey’s postpartum journey has brought new depths to her life, profoundly impacting her sense of self and motherhood.
