Her family, deeply affected by the conviction, is in the process of arranging visitation to offer support during this difficult time. Gutierrez-Reed’s conviction stems from the tragic accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin, who was handling a prop gun that Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s armorer, had loaded with live rounds.

After the conviction on Wednesday, she was immediately taken to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility, where her mug shot was taken. Despite the guilty verdict for involuntary manslaughter, Gutierrez-Reed was acquitted of a charge of evidence tampering.

Her defense team has attributed the accident to her being overstretched by the film’s production demands, arguing that she should not be held responsible for Hutchins’ death. They have announced plans to appeal the conviction, aiming to challenge the verdict and judgment.

The response to the guilty verdict in the courtroom was one of shock, a sentiment echoed by Gutierrez-Reed as she navigates the reality of incarceration. The date for her sentencing has yet to be determined, but she could face up to 18 months in prison.
