Jayden Daniels Poised to Become NFL’s Next Superstar, Says Cris Collinsworth
Cris Collinsworth predicts Jayden Daniels will be the NFL’s next superstar as the rookie quarterback impresses in Washington Commanders’ preseason games. Read more about his journey and potential.
Bollywood Fever: The final game of the NFL preseason concluded on Sunday night with a matchup between the New England Patriots and the Washington Commanders.
Before the game, Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth joined the Sunday Night Football broadcast to discuss both teams in detail, noting that each is embarking on a new chapter.
Notably, Bill Belichick is no longer the head coach for the Patriots, while Dan Quinn has taken the helm for the Commanders.
The 2024 NFL Draft saw the Commanders select Jayden Daniels at No. 2, followed by the Patriots picking Drake Maye at No. 3.
During the broadcast, Collinsworth boldly predicted the rise of the NFL’s next big star.
“Jayden Daniels has simply dazzled since he’s gotten to Washington,” Collinsworth stated. “Mike, I have to say, I think he is going to be a superstar in this league.”
Collinsworth’s high praise reflects the impressive promise Daniels has shown since joining the Commanders.
In the preseason opener against the New York Jets, Daniels had a limited but effective performance, completing 2-of-3 passes for 43 yards and scoring a rushing touchdown.

Daniels continued to impress in the second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, completing 10-of-12 passes for 78 yards and adding 13 rushing yards on two carries.
Daniels’ strong preseason performances have earned him the QB1 spot in Washington, a remarkable achievement for a rookie.
During his final season at LSU, Daniels put up video game-like numbers, culminating in a Heisman Trophy win. He finished the year with 3,812 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. Additionally, his dual-threat capability was on full display, as he rushed for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Though Daniels was the second quarterback taken in the draft, following Caleb Williams, who won the Heisman the previous year, Collinsworth is confident in Daniels’ potential as he enters his first NFL season.
The Washington Commanders will kick off the regular season on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
