Johnny Somali Detained in Israel After Inappropriate Remarks to Police Officer
Internet figure Johnny Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, was detained after making disrespectful comments to a female police officer while in Israel.
The event unfolded on the evening of April 6, during a live broadcast on Kick, where Somali was recorded using flirtatious and inappropriate language towards the officer, saying, “Oh, you a bad b*tch, huh? I swear to God. I’ll take you to dinner. I’ll change your life, baby. I promise you.”
Shortly after, a male officer intervened, seizing Somali forcefully, which led Somali to shout, “I’m from America! USA!” repeatedly. He was then forcibly taken away by multiple officers, all the while claiming he was innocent.
Clips of Somali’s apprehension spread rapidly online, with footage shared on Twitter/X capturing the moment he was hoisted and put into a police vehicle.
The specifics of Somali’s arrest remain undisclosed, though he was eventually freed from police custody. Following his release, Somali shared a video where he claimed he had to “leave” Israel after purportedly witnessing a shooting at a restaurant where he was dining.
This incident adds to Somali’s history of legal troubles during his international travels. Earlier in the year, he was fined 200K Yen ($1,400 USD) in Osaka, Japan, for disruptive broadcasting in a restaurant and had a prior arrest for entering a construction site unlawfully in the same country.
Despite a temporary ban from Kick in March for “promoting violent behavior,” Somali’s channel has been reinstated.
Somali has expressed that legal challenges will not deter him from his international adventures. He controversially mentioned in a now-removed tweet on Twitter/X his intention to “slap” a BTS member upon visiting South Korea.
