Josh Peck Offers Support to Drake Bell Following Abuse Revelations in New Docuseries
Bollywood Fever, March, 20: Drake Bell revealed that his co-star from “Drake & Josh,” Josh Peck, has offered him support after Bell opened up about being abused in the docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”
In this detailed four-part series on ID, Bell tells his story of being allegedly mistreated by his former dialogue coach, Brian Peck. Brian Peck was found guilty of sexually assaulting a child actor from Nickelodeon in 2004. The series made it known that Bell, who was only 15 years old at the time, was the main focus of the legal case and conviction that followed.
After Bell shared his experience, some of his fans criticized Josh Peck for not speaking up sooner. Bell and Peck had worked closely together, first on “The Amanda Show” from 1999 to 2002 and then on the hit Nickelodeon series “Drake & Josh” from 2004 to 2007.
Fans expressed their disappointment in Peck’s silence on social media. One fan commented on Peck’s Instagram post from March 12, saying, “The silence is so loud Josh.. makes me sad,” while another remarked, “The silence is disgusting.”
However, on the day after the second episode of the docuseries was aired, Bell took to TikTok to defend Peck. He asked his fans to be more understanding toward Peck.
In the video, Bell said, “I just want to clear something up. I’ve seen a lot of comments on some of Josh’s TikToks and posts, and I want to tell you all that dealing with this is very emotional and tough.”
He added, “Not everything is shared with the public, but I want you to know that Josh has reached out to me. He’s been very thoughtful and supportive as I navigate this challenging time. So, I wanted to share this with you and ask that you be kinder to him.”
Josh Peck previously spoke out about his relationship with Bell, more than a decade after Drake & Josh ended. The actor admitted on a March 2022 episode of the podcast, BFFs with Dave Portnoy, Josh Richards and Brianna Chickenfry, that the pair were no longer friends.
“We were kids, right? Obviously, there were times when we were closer than not, but when inevitably the show ended – I mean, we’re just totally different kids,” Josh Peck said at the time. “Drake & Josh is something I’ll be synonymous with forever, and I’m proud of it. And I want to like the guy that my name is attached to forever, but unfortunately, it just sort of worked out the way that it did.”
