Adult film star Kagney Linn Karter, aged 36, was tragically discovered deceased, with reports indicating an apparent suicide, as detailed by TMZ.
According to records from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, Karter’s body was recovered from Parma, Ohio.
In response to this heartbreaking loss, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by the actress’ friends on behalf of her mother, Tina.
They shared in the description of the fundraiser that despite Karter’s successes in the realms of performance and fitness, she grappled with mental health challenges over the years.
The description on the fundraising page highlighted Karter’s dedication to her craft, noting her consistent presence at Northeast Ohio fitness studios Ecole de Pole Cleveland and Ecole de Pole Akron, where she strived to improve herself despite personal struggles.
The statement continued to praise Karter’s resilience and determination, noting her efforts to support her friends and community despite her internal battles.
Proceeds from the GoFundMe will be allocated towards Karter’s funeral expenses, with any surplus funds beyond the $8,000 goal being donated to a local animal rescue charity.
Karter, renowned for her roles in nearly 320 adult film titles, began her career in the mid-2000s and garnered recognition, including two AVN Awards, one of which was for Best New Starlet in 2010.
In addition to her work in adult entertainment, Karter was involved in pole fitness, live dancing, and adult modeling.
Final Instagram post just days before suicide
Her final Instagram post, shared on February 10, featured a snapshot of herself in a baby pink bikini, standing on a Florida beach with the water lapping at her feet.
The caption simply read, “Hi from Florida,” accompanying the image where she struck a confident pose with hands on hips and her straight hair tucked behind sunglasses.
The post garnered an outpouring of concern and condolences from her 741,000 followers.
Following the announcement of her passing, comments were disabled on her profile. Kagney, who amassed several AVN awards throughout her career in adult entertainment starting in the mid-2000s, had established a significant following.
In 2019, Kagney relocated from Los Angeles to Ohio, where she became a regular at a local pole dancing studio.
The studio owners expressed their fondness for her on Kagney’s GoFundMe page, describing her seamless integration into their community and the warmth she brought to their studio.
As she transitioned away from the adult film industry, Kagney ventured into pole dancing more deeply, eventually opening her own studio.
