Normani Set to Drop ‘1:59’ Single with Gunna on April 26
The anticipation is building: Following last month’s announcement of her debut solo album “Dopamine,” Normani has revealed her first single from the album, “1:59,” featuring Gunna, set for release on April 26 through RCA Records.
The album has been a topic of speculation among fans on social media ever since the former Fifth Harmony member shared the cover art and title for “Dopamine” in February.
She teased fans with a snippet of a potential track from the album on her social media platforms, but then remained quiet online, with little information released until her recent tease on X (formerly Twitter) about an imminent announcement.
Since her departure from Fifth Harmony in 2018, Normani has sporadically released music, achieving modest success on the charts. Her collaborations, including “Dancing With a Stranger” with Sam Smith and “Love Lies” with Khalid, have made waves, and her partnership with Cardi B on “Wild Side” reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her 2019 solo endeavor “Motivation” climbed to No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2022, Normani signaled a new chapter in her music career by signing a global publishing agreement with Hipgnosis Songs Group. She underwent a managerial change last May, moving from Brandon Silverstein of S10 Entertainment to join forces with Brandon Creed and Lydia Asrat, known for their work with Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, and Coco Jones.
Details on “Dopamine” remain scarce, but Normani has assured fans that the album will encapsulate her journey and growth. In a conversation with Who What Wear, she shared, “I know what I’ve been through. This album is more than just music to me; it’s a reflection of my entire journey to this pivotal moment… The challenges and experiences since leaving Fifth Harmony were necessary for me to evolve into the artist I am today, capable of creating the music I’m now making.”
