Keylor Navas Announces Retirement from International Football at Age 37
Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas announced his retirement from international football on Thursday at the age of 37, putting an end to speculation about his participation in the next Copa America. Navas, who began his international career in 2008, has accumulated 114 caps and featured in three World Cups, most notably leading his team to the quarter-finals in Brazil 2014.

His final match for Costa Rica was a friendly against Argentina in March. Navas’ decision means he will not be competing in the Copa America, set to take place in the United States from June 20 to July 14.
“This chapter of my life is coming to an end, I leave with my heart full of gratitude and my eyes looking forward, always carrying the name of our beloved Costa Rica,” Navas expressed in a video shared on social media. He added, “It’s a bittersweet feeling, difficult to accept, this stage has come to an end. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later because I know our paths will continue to cross. Thank you Costa Rica, see you later, pura vida.”
Navas, who has been with Paris Saint-Germain since 2019 and was loaned to Nottingham Forest last year, will be out of contract in June. During his tenure with PSG, he has won three Ligue 1 titles, including their record-extending 12th championship last month. Before PSG, he played for Real Madrid, where he secured three Champions League titles.
