Kid Cudi is on the mend after sustaining a broken foot due to a fall during his performance at Coachella. Sharing an update on X (formerly known as Twitter), he expressed his shock and gratitude: “Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show. just leavin the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy. I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big.”
In a light-hearted video, Cudi humorously reflected on the mishap, “This is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around off stage like he’s 26 like he used to do back in the day. I learned a valuable lesson: no more prancing around, jumping off stages. I’m hoping that I be healed up in time for tour. That’s the plan. I don’t want to let you guys down. So that’s what we’re aiming for. Not cancelling anything just yet. Just going to wait and see how things go.”
He reassured fans of his recovery, albeit with some discomfort: “I’m a little sore. Yesterday was a lot of pain. But I’m doing better now… Apparently I broke something in my heel. This is a major setback. Don’t worry. I’m going to bounce back,” he quipped, adding, “Engage the rage, but not at 40.”
During his Coachella set at the Sahara tent, Kid Cudi was forced to stop his performance early, as shown in fan-captured footage. In the video, he appears to roll his ankle after stepping down awkwardly from the stage.
The festival, which featured Kid Cudi during its second weekend, also included major acts such as Lana Del Rey and Tyler, the Creator on Saturday, and Doja Cat on Sunday. Notably, No Doubt reunited for performances on both Saturdays of the festival, with Olivia Rodrigo making a guest appearance the first weekend.
The event was highlighted by a series of surprise performances, including Will Smith who appeared with J Balvin to perform “Men in Black,” echoing his 1997 hit movie. Other unexpected acts included Billie Eilish, Shakira, and Paris Hilton, while Kesha, performing with Reneé Rapp, notably altered the lyrics of her song “TiK ToK” to include a pointed remark towards P. Diddy.
