Mega Millions Jackpot Soars to a Staggering $977 Million as No Winning Ticket Emerges from Last Night’s Drawing

The Mega Millions jackpot has soared to an impressive $977 million for the upcoming Friday night drawing, following a round where no participants matched all six numbers on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s draw featured the numbers 24, 46, 49, 62, 66 with the Mega Ball landing on 7. The jackpot at stake was $893 million, offering a cash option of $421.4 million. The cash option for the upcoming Friday draw has increased to $461 million. This marks only the sixth occasion in the game’s history, spanning nearly 22 years, that the jackpot has reached such a significant figure, with only five instances of jackpots surpassing the $1 billion threshold.

Mega Millions holds the distinction of being the sole lottery game to have handed out five jackpots over $1 billion, with winners spread across various states.

The states that have celebrated these monumental wins include South Carolina in 2018, Michigan in 2021, Illinois in 2022, Maine in early 2023, and Florida in the last August.

Winning the Mega Millions jackpot, or any lottery jackpot for that matter, is a long shot, with the odds positioned at 1 in 302.6 million for clinching the top prize.

Available for $2 per ticket, Mega Millions is played across 45 states, in addition to Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
