Miley Cyrus Says, Singing for Thousands “Isn’t Really the Thing That I Love”

Fans who have been eagerly anticipating a Miley Cyrus tour following the release of her latest album, Endless Summer Vacation, might be disappointed to hear that their hopes might not materialize.

In a recent interview for British Vogue‘s latest cover story, the Grammy-nominated singer expressed uncertainty about her future involvement in touring, stating that she’s not sure if she can envision herself embarking on tours anymore, at least for the foreseeable future.

“It’s been a minute,” she said. “After the last [headline arena] show I did [in 2014], I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t. Not only ‘can’t’, because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own?” … leaving the answer to that question up in the air.

In the earlier part of the interview, the singer of “Flowers” shared her preference for performing in front of her close circle of friends and loved ones rather than in large arenas. She expressed that singing for hundreds of thousands of people is not something she particularly enjoys, as she feels a lack of connection and safety in such settings.

Cyrus further explained that performing for massive crowds is not a natural experience and can be isolating, as being in front of a sea of people still leaves her feeling alone. At this moment, her focus is on living in the present and dedicating her life to her own happiness.

The Bangerz tour in 2014 marked Cyrus’ last extensive headlining tour, which encompassed numerous shows across different continents. Since then, she has primarily embarked on smaller tours, such as the Milky Milky Milk Tour in 2015, consisting of only eight performances, and the Attention Tour in 2022, which included just five shows primarily at music festivals.

Her latest studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, was released in March and has received positive reception. The lead single, “Flowers,” became Cyrus’ first chart-topping hit in nearly a decade, marking a significant milestone in her career.
