The residence where Erik and Lyle Menendez infamously killed their parents has been sold for a substantial sum, aligning with a significant date related to the case.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the property was purchased for $17 million on Wednesday, just a few months following its listing in December.

Featuring seven bedrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a two-story guest house, the mansion was last acquired in 2001 for $3.7 million, marking a significant gain for the seller. Despite its grim past, the sale price was below the market average, as noted by Realtor.com.

Interestingly, the sale coincided with the 28th anniversary of Erik and Lyle Menendez’s conviction for the shotgun murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty, on March 20, 1996.

The case surged back into public consciousness last year with the documentary series “Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed,” which highlighted allegations of sexual abuse by Jose Menendez. This revelation, supported by a former Menudo band member, led Erik and Lyle’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, to seek a retrial, sparking renewed interest in the saga.

The identity of the new owner remains undisclosed, but they have certainly acquired a property with a notable and dark history. Wishing them all the best!
