Oliver Hudson, Kate Hudson‘s brother and an actor in his own right, shared a personal admission this week on the ‘Sibling Revelry’ podcast he hosts with his sister. He confessed to being unfaithful to his now-wife, Erinn Bartlett, shortly before their 2006 wedding, a secret he initially kept but later revealed to her.
He detailed his emotional turmoil during his engagement, stating, “When I got engaged, something happened psychologically, and I spiraled, and I was unfaithful, and I was cheating, and I was crazy. I never got caught. I told her everything because I couldn’t live with myself and get married and be married and have children with this sort of weight.”
In reflecting on his actions and the healing process, Oliver highlighted the pivotal role his mother, Goldie Hawn, played in his journey towards redemption and asserted his belief in his intrinsic goodness.
Oliver and Erinn embarked on extensive therapy to navigate the aftermath of his infidelity. Oliver expressed a nuanced perspective on regret and the lessons learned from his actions, saying, “I’m not sure I have many regrets because if I didn’t, it was a choice that I made, whether it was a positive one or a negative one. I’ve made some horrible, horrible choices in my life just generally. You would think I regret doing that, but I don’t know who I would be if I didn’t make that choice.”
Despite the challenges, Oliver and Erinn’s relationship endured, leading to a family of five with the birth of their three children.
