Pamela Anderson opens up about battling depression during her decade-long hiatus and her excitement for her new film The Last Showgirl at the Zurich Film Festival.
BollywoodFever: Pamela Anderson has opened up about her long battle with mental health struggles, which contributed to her decade-long hiatus from the spotlight. While attending the Zurich Film Festival to promote her upcoming film The Last Showgirl, the 57-year-old Baywatch star shared her candid reflections on dealing with depression.
“I look at it now and it feels like I went from Baywatch to Broadway,” Anderson told Variety. I don’t know what happened in between, it’s all a big blur. I think I have had depression for a couple of decades.”
At the festival, Anderson was also honored with Zurich’s prestigious Golden Eye Award, a moment that left her feeling both surprised and grateful. “I never thought I would be on stage receiving an award like that,” she said. “I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more.”
Reflecting on her return to the limelight, particularly after the release of her Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story in 2023, Anderson expressed joy in shedding the Baywatch persona that had defined much of her career.
“Ryan [White] made that doc, and that’s how Gia [Coppola] saw me,” she explained, referencing the producer of her new film. “It’s great to be a part of pop culture, but it’s a blessing and a curse. People fall in love with you because of a bathing suit. It has taken a long time, but I am here.”
With renewed passion, Anderson is excited about her future projects and eager to leave a lasting mark beyond her iconic red swimsuit.
