Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Visit Bhutan Next Week on Official Invitation

New Delhi, Bollywoodfever, March 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted an invitation from his Bhutanese counterpart, Tshering Tobgay, to visit Bhutan in the upcoming week, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. 

The invitation was extended on behalf of the King of Bhutan during a meeting between PM Modi and Prime Minister Tobgay in New Delhi on Thursday.

This visit marks PM Tobgay’s first foreign trip since taking office in February 2024, underscoring the significance of the India-Bhutan relationship. 

The discussions between the two leaders covered a wide range of topics, including infrastructure development, connectivity, energy, hydropower cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and development cooperation. 

Both leaders reiterated their dedication to enhancing the already strong and unique friendship between India and Bhutan.

Prime Minister Tobgay expressed his deep gratitude for India’s continued support and partnership in Bhutan’s development initiatives. 

The visit of the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, to India from November 3-10, 2023, further highlighted the close ties between the two nations.

The King’s visit included stops in Assam, New Delhi, and Maharashtra, where he and PM Modi discussed various bilateral and global matters of mutual interest.

India and Bhutan share a long-standing relationship characterized by trust, goodwill, and mutual understanding at all levels. 

The upcoming visit by Prime Minister Modi to Bhutan is anticipated to further strengthen these ties and explore new avenues for cooperation across different sectors.
