Rumer Willis Shares Heartfelt Update on Bruce Willis Amid Dementia Battle
Rumer Willis provides a touching health update on her father, Bruce Willis, amid his battle with dementia, sharing moments of their bond and the family’s support.
Bollywood Fever: Rumer Willis recently shared a heartfelt update about her father, Bruce Willis, as he continues to battle dementia.
In response to a fan’s question via Instagram Stories on August 22, Rumer expressed her deep love and gratitude, saying, “He is great. I love him so much. Thank you,” while posting a touching photo of the father-daughter duo holding hands.
Bruce Willis, known for his iconic role in Die Hard, was first diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, a condition that affects communication abilities.

The family later revealed in 2023 that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a more specific diagnosis that impacts areas of the brain associated with personality, behavior, and language.
The Willis family, including Bruce’s daughters Scout, 33, Tallulah, 30, from his marriage to Demi Moore, and his younger daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, with wife Emma Heming, have all come together to support him. “This experience has brought the whole family even closer together,” a source shared with Us Weekly in December 2023, highlighting their efforts to cherish every moment with Bruce.
During a candid Q&A session on Instagram, Rumer also revealed that she had recently split from her boyfriend Dereck Richard Thomas. The former couple shares a 1-year-old daughter, Louetta, and Rumer shared that she is now navigating life as a single mom while co-parenting.
Reflecting on Bruce’s relationship with his granddaughter, Rumer fondly recounted, “He’s so good. I actually got to see him right before I came out [to New York],” she said during an appearance on the Today show in May. She shared a sweet memory of Louetta walking towards Bruce, adding, “He’s a girl dad, through and through.”

Seeing her parents interact with Louetta has brought back fond memories of Rumer’s own childhood. “Honestly, seeing them [Bruce and Demi Moore] with her, it almost unlocks all of these childhood memories because being a grandparent, I think, is the best. They have all of the love and joy without any of the responsibilities. They get to just spoil her,” she added.
This intimate glimpse into the Willis family’s journey underscores the love and resilience they share as they navigate Bruce’s health challenges together.
