Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Attorney Criticizes ‘Excessive’ Military Force in Raids on the Rapper’s Residences
Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ attorney denounced the federal raids on the rapper’s properties in Los Angeles and Miami as “a gross use of military-level force,” asserting Combs’ innocence and his determination to vindicate his name.
This marks the first time Combs’ legal team has spoken out since the Monday operations conducted by Homeland Security Investigations agents at his residences.
Attorney Aaron Dyer criticized the manner in which the raids were carried out, stating, “Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences.
There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated.”
The actions are tied to a sex trafficking investigation led by federal authorities in New York, according to two law enforcement officials who spoke to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity, as they were not cleared to publicly discuss the investigation’s specifics.
According to a statement from attorney Aaron Dyer, Sean “Diddy” Combs was not detained during recent federal raids on his properties, nor were any family members arrested or had their travel restricted. These actions, described by Dyer as an “unprecedented ambush,” are part of what he characterizes as a “witch hunt” spurred by unfounded claims from civil lawsuits, emphasizing that there has been no determination of guilt in either criminal or civil contexts.
Dyer vehemently defended Combs, stating, “Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.” The statement highlighted the distressing experience of Combs’ sons, Justin and Christian “King” Combs, who were handcuffed during the operation at their Los Angeles home. King Combs, a successful music artist, is noted for his chart-topping track “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop.”
The raids, part of a criminal investigation, took place at Combs’ luxurious residences in Los Angeles’ Holmby Hills and Miami, attracting significant law enforcement presence. This scrutiny represents a significant intensification of the legal challenges facing Combs, who has faced multiple sexual abuse allegations in recent months.
Among the allegations, Combs was accused by his former protege and girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, of severe sexual abuse, including forced interactions with male prostitutes for his filming. Another lawsuit claimed Combs pressured a music producer into engaging with prostitutes. Additionally, an accusation from two decades ago involved a claim of rape by Combs against a then-17-year-old girl. Combs and his legal team have consistently denied these allegations.
