Why Heidi Klum Felt ‘Disappointed’ With Sofia Vergara Regarding ‘Griselda’
Heidi Klum expressed a keen interest in having played a part in Sofia Vergara‘s acclaimed crime drama mini-series, Griselda, feeling a particular role could have been perfect for her.
At the America’s Got Talent event on Tuesday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California, Klum shared her thoughts with ET, highlighting the strong bond she shares with her fellow judge, Vergara.
Klum conveyed her excitement for Vergara’s success with Griselda but mentioned she felt slightly overlooked for not being considered for a role in the series.
“I was upset because I was like, ‘Why couldn’t I have been one of your cousins?’ I could have been a cousin that doesn’t speak, because obviously I don’t speak Spanish,” Klum joked. “But I could have just been, you know, not speaking! I was upset.”
She humorously suggested another role she would have enjoyed, “I could have also been one of those gorgeous girls! I would have loved to. But she said, ‘Nein,'” Klum recounted.
In the series, Vergara took on the role of the notorious drug lord Griselda Blanco, also known as the cocaine godmother, in a six-episode miniseries that premiered on Netflix in January.
Though Klum and Vergara didn’t collaborate on Griselda, they’re set to reunite for the upcoming season of America’s Got Talent.
Klum also mentioned the camaraderie among the judges outside of their professional engagements, sharing insights into their personal interactions.
“I mean, we all also do other things — so, you know, sometimes when I’m not here I do a lot of other shows… and so I have a lot of kids too. So I wish I can spend more time with [my co-stars]. But I feel like we do see each other a fair amount,” said Klum. She talked about enjoying dinners and girl time with Vergara.
Vergara, on her part, spoke fondly of their mutual support, especially during the demanding schedule of production days.
“We look at each other and it’s like, ‘You need more lipstick,’ or, ‘Your hair is not right.’ We’re always taking care of each other,” Vergara remarked. “I love that.”
She highlighted the importance of fun amidst the hectic set schedule, “We’re always trying to have fun in between, ’cause you go crazy on the set for too many hours.”
The 19th season of America’s Got Talent is set to premiere on May 28 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
