Eva Mendes Discusses Collaborating with Spouse Ryan Gosling for Their Initial Project Together
Eva Mendes is reflecting on her initial collaboration with Ryan Gosling, who is now her husband, during their first project together.
In a Tuesday interview on the Today show, Mendes shared insights into her early encounters with Gosling on the set of their 2012 film, The Place Beyond the Pines.
“I’ve never experienced anything like that,” Mendes said, praising Gosling’s dedication to his craft and his efforts to elevate everything around him, including his co-stars. She humorously remarked, “Unfortunately — or fortunately — there’s only one Ryan, so I pretty much stopped acting after that.”
The couple has since managed to maintain a private life while occasionally expressing their mutual support publicly, like Mendes’ affectionate Instagram post celebrating Gosling’s memorable “I’m Just Ken” performance at the Oscars.
Mendes also touched on her decision to pause her acting career to prioritize their two daughters, Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 7. She described the choice as effortless, highlighting the flexibility she has to continue working without the need to be on location, which acting often demands. This arrangement allows Gosling to pursue his acting career while Mendes focuses on her projects closer to home.
