Tekashi 6ix9ine taken to hospital after South Florida gym attack
Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was reportedly assaulted at an LA Fitness gym in South Florida on Tuesday evening and subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.Â
The Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that an altercation occurred between several individuals inside the gym, resulting in injuries to 6ix9ine, whose given name is Daniel Hernandez. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
An attorney for the rapper, Lance Lazzaro, stated that 6ix9ine was attacked by three or four individuals in a sauna at the gym, but he tried to fight back.
The perpetrators reportedly fled the scene after employees heard the disturbance. The rapper suffered cuts and bruises to his face.
In 2019, 6ix9ine pleaded guilty to charges related to gang activity in New York and received a reduced sentence of two years after cooperating with federal investigators and providing information on his former gang associates.
The 26-year-old was attacked in the bathroom of the gym by a group of men and sustained injuries to his face and bruises, his attorney Lance Lazzaro told Variety.
Lazzaro said the attack on the musician, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, happened in and outside the gym’s sauna and he tried to fight back against the three or four men involved.
“He had cuts to his face and bruises,” Lazzaro said, reported Variety, which added that the group of men fled the scene after employees at the gym heard the disturbance.
Police were called following the incident and Hernandez was taken to a local hospital in an ambulance, Lazzaro added, per Variety.
